Dyslexia isn’t a disease. It’s a different way of thinking and learning. If I teach you something and you don’t get it, that’s on me. It means I used the wrong method. It’s my job to have lots of methods in my arsenal, and to teach the way you learn.

Carol Barnier

For the past 20 or so years, I’ve been a frequent media guest and convention keynote speaker, an author of several books and dozens of articles, all addressing the unique needs and concerns of families with an ADD/ADHD child. Since ADHD and dyslexia frequently intersect, I then trained in the Orton-Gillingham based Barton program, and soon became the administrator of a dyslexia team at a private school in the State of Washington. Now semi-retired, I maintain a small private practice for struggling readers, and consult with other Barton tutors who want to better reach the ADHD dyslexic student.
